Environmental SustainabilitySustainability is not new at Burrows Paper Corporation. At Burrows, protecting and preserving the environment through sustainable manufacturing and converting practices is not just our business -- its our nature.We have had processes in place to lessen the negative impact of manufacturing on the environment for more than forty years. Using recycled fiber as part of our paper furnish is not new. We have been doing it since day one in 1919! All of our printing operations use only environmentally friendly water and soy based inks. Our F-Lite® specialty packaging products and reduced-basis weight specialty wraps for the quick service restaurant industry have helped to significantly reduce the amount of solid waste that goes to landfills. Since 1987, Burrows has been a partner in producing renewable hydroelectric power. Through our affiliation in two partnerships, Little Falls Hydroelectric Associates and Lyonsdale Associates, Burrows generates 2/3 of the electricity needed to manufacture 60,000 MT of paper. Our goal today is to produce as much renewable energy as we consume from traditional energy sources. Wind and solar alternatives are being investigated. Energy reduction projects are scheduled. We will meet our goal. We will continue to make a difference. |
